Have you ever noticed that when you decide to make changes in your life, you get really pumped up,
excited to embark on a path of self-improvement? Then Poof! Something comes up and all that resolve just goes down the drain. And in response to your failure to make that change, you end up beating yourself up because you call yourself weak or lazy. Punitive measures never seem to have any effect. Self-condemnation and self-criticism are two of the most destructive emotions and they just take you further and further away from what you are seeking. In fact, this is usually the time when we eat everything that is not nailed down and make ourselves a rather large cocktail while smoking a cigarette. Naturally, this compounds the problem even further.
As human beings we have an innate resistance to change. The reason is that many old mental patterns and beliefs about oneself are lodged in the subconscious mind. What shows up in your external world is a reflection of what is going on in your subconscious mind. What we continually think about or give our attention to usually shows up in our daily life. That is why negative thoughts rob us of our ability to manifest our desires and keep us immobile. I can't tell you how many times a client has said to me "I just feel stuck and I can't seem to move forward in my life." This is where hypnosis can be very helpful. The process of hypnosis relaxes the conscious part of the mind, which is the critical, judgmental and analytical mind. As the mind relaxes and enters into Alpha Brain Wave State, we become receptive to positive suggestions.
With repetition these suggestions become embedded into the subconscious mind. Then the process of change becomes natural. It is not a struggle because you are reprogramming the subconscious part of the mind. The subconscious mind can be our greatest ally because it holds all the knowledge and all the answers that we need to progress and live up to our full potential.
